A sample is a starting point, not an audience-wide verdict.
Optional, not bundled into the price
Add a Top comments sample.
Turn on Include Top comments to fetch one page, usually about 20 top-level comments, for each successful transcript.
The ZIP keeps these samples in a separate comments/ folder. Each JSON file includes the video ID and title, so you can match the conversation back to its source.
It costs one additional credit per nonempty page. Empty pages and failed comments requests cost nothing, and a comments failure does not discard your transcript.

One successful transcript costs one credit. Optional comments add one credit per nonempty page. Search and video details use no credits.
Jobs reserve the maximum upfront. Failed transcripts, empty or failed comments pages, and unfinished work return their unused reservation to the job’s original billing cycle.

Building with the API? Can I try bulk downloads on the free plan?
Yes. Sign in with Google and use your 30 free credits every 30 days to create a bulk transcript job on the website. A transcript-only job reserves one credit per video; including Top comments reserves two. Bulk jobs created through the public API or MCP require a paid plan.
Will I get a transcript for every video?
Only when a caption track can be retrieved. YouTube Video Transcript reads existing manual or automatic captions; it does not transcribe audio from scratch. A video with no retrievable transcript is marked as failed, and its reserved credits are refunded. Automatic captions can contain mistakes, so check important quotes against the video.
What if the channel is bigger than my balance?
The website’s whole-channel button shows the amount it can collect: the smaller of the long-form video count, the 5,000-video job cap, and what your credits cover. Including comments reserves two credits per video, so it reduces the number covered by the same balance. For a hand-picked bulk list, remove videos or add enough credits through your plan before submitting.
Can I cancel a job and keep the results?
Yes. Cancel the running job from History. Transcripts already saved remain available to download, and unused reserved credits are refunded automatically. Collected results stay charged. Refunds apply to the job’s original billing cycle.
How long are my downloads available?
Download your collection before the job’s 100-day retention period ends. You can return with the same account and export the saved transcripts again without paying for another fetch. Keep a local copy if you need a permanent archive.
Can I create and read a collection from an AI chat or API?
Yes, on a paid plan. The MCP connector can create bulk transcript jobs, check their progress, and read completed transcripts without another transcript charge. The public API supports bulk submission, status checks, and exports. Both use your existing account balance, with their own per-plan job limits.
